Colombo: Government offices will be closed from Monday in Sri Lanka, where fuel shortages are acute. In the absence of public transport, those working only in the essential services, including the health sector, are advised to come to the office. It was also suggested that schools should make education completely online.
It is a situation where many of the school buses cannot run. There is no electricity during the day. The government recently imposed a 2.5% social service tax on companies. Holidays were also announced on Friday.
