In 2024, holidays in Uruguay will maintain their established dates. Below is the complete calendar, which includes non-working days, Carnival and Tourism Week.
In the set of annual holidays, some commemorations can vary their date, while others must be celebrated on the specific day of the anniversary. This provision is governed by Law 16,805, according to the wording granted by Law 17,414. In accordance with this regulation, the holidays of Carnival, Easter and those corresponding to January 1 and 6, May 1, June 19, July 18, August 25, November 2 and December 25 must be commemorated in the day in which they naturally fall, without the possibility of change.
In contrast, other holidays can be adjusted based on the day of the week they occur. If they fall on Saturday, Sunday or Monday, the celebration continues on those days. If the date falls on a Tuesday or Wednesday, they are moved to the previous Monday. If, on the other hand, they fall on a Thursday or Friday, they are postponed to the immediately following Monday.

Monday, January 1 – New Year: It is a non-working day and is not modified.
Saturday, January 6 – Three Kings Day: The date does not change, but it is a working day.

Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13 – Carnival: Both days are working holidays and their celebration is not postponed.
Holidays in March 2024
From Monday, March 25 to Sunday, March 31 – Tourism Week, also known as Holy Week.
Holidays in April 2024
Friday, April 19 – Disembarkation of the Thirty-Three Orientals: Although it is a working holiday, since it falls on a Friday, law 16,805, according to the wording given by law 17,414, allows its transfer to Monday, April 22, thus generating an end long week.
Holidays in May 2024
Wednesday, May 1 – Workers’ Day: It is a non-working holiday and does not travel.
Saturday, May 18 – Battle of the Stones: Despite being a working holiday, as it falls on a Saturday, Law 16,805, in its wording given by Law 17,414, establishes that it be celebrated on that day.

Wednesday, June 19 – Birth of Artigas: It is a working day and is part of the holidays that cannot change their date.

Thursday, July 18 – Constitutional Oath: It is a non-working holiday that cannot be modified.

Sunday, August 25 – Declaration of Independence: It is a non-working holiday and the date does not change.

October Saturday, October 12 – Columbus Day: Although the date may change as it is a working holiday, as it falls on a Saturday, it is commemorated on that day.
