The film “Maria” is based on the last period of the life of the most famous American opera singer of the 20th century, Maria Kellis, when she became addicted to anxiety medication in Paris. Maria Kellis died in 1977 at the age of 53.
The movie “Maria” is directed by Biblularin and Angelina Jolie plays the lead role of Maria Callis.
Speaking on the occasion of the premiere at the Venice Film Festival, the actress said that this was the most difficult and challenging role of my career, she had to learn opera to adapt to this role, which took her about seven months.

Actress Angelina Jolie Kamazid said, “I thought I could sing in a film like everyone else, only to act in songs, but later I realized that I would have to learn to sing for this film because you can’t act as an opera.”
According to the director of the film, 95% of the film consists of the original recordings of Maria Callis, but the recordings from the end of her life shown in the film are in the voice of Angelina Jolie.
It should be noted that Angelina Jolie has worked in more than 60 films so far, she also received an Oscar for the best supporting actress in the 1999 film “Girl Interrupted”.
“Maria” is among 21 films in the running for the top Golden Line award at the Venice Film Festival, which runs through September 7, 2024.
