Over the course of four to five days, the two met on three occasions, sharing drinks and conversation. The woman recounted that qiu made increasingly suggestive remarks, even proposing marriage, which she dismissed as a joke. She has no recollection of the assault itself, only waking up feeling unwell and discovering the horrifying truth through surveillance footage.
Initial Confession, Subsequent Recantation & Legal Outcome
Qiu initially confessed to the crime upon arrest, but later retracted his statement during the investigation, claiming no physical contact had occurred. This attempt to evade duty drew criticism from the prosecutor, who condemned his attitude following the assault. Ultimately, he was charged with taking advantage of chance to commit sexual intercourse, public indecency, and related offenses.
