Netflix actor Barton Cowperthwaite (31) addresses his almost 180,000 fans on Instagram with bitter words: He has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

The ballet dancer known from the drama series “Your Last Solo” wrote to a photowhich shows him in the hospital with a peace sign: “It’s a pretty big brain tumor.” The only treatment option is brain surgery: “Remove as much of this shitty thing as possible.”

According to the doctors, the tumor was the size of a lemon, the US actor said in a statement Donation page with. “And you know what they say: ‘When life gives you lemons, make lemonade,’” he quoted an English proverb intended to spread optimism.

Cowperthwaite: “So far the doctors are confident that they can remove most of the tumor and that after a successful operation and some rehab I will be able to function like a normal human being (amazing, talented, brilliant, funny) again.”

However, scans and check-ups would likely be part of his life forever. The operation is scheduled for next week, the actor wrote. “I plan to make a full recovery.”

The actor said he hesitated for a long time about starting a fundraising campaign: “Because I see myself as someone who lives in extremely fortunate circumstances.” However, the costs are extremely high. That’s why he could use all the help he could get.

Since Saturday evening, the equivalent of 45,000 euros have been donated for the cancer-stricken actor (as of Sunday, 11:05 a.m.). The money will go towards medical costs, rehabilitation and care, among other things.

Cowperthwaite writes: “I am absolutely shocked by the outpouring of love and support.”
