The Ministry of Health (Minsal) announced the land approval for the new hospital in the northern area of ​​Santiago.

The healthcare center, which will be built in the commune of Huechuraba, will benefit the inhabitants of Tiltil, Colina, Lampa, Huechuraba, Quilicura, Conchalí, Recoleta and Independenciawho currently go to hospitals such as San José and the University of Chile.

According to Carlos Pozo, head of investments at the Minsal, the project “involves the construction and fitting out of a highly complex hospital, with a infrastructure of 71,775 square meters, 368 total beds, 14 operating rooms, 4 comprehensive delivery rooms, 2 computerized CT machines, a resonator and 29 rooms for medical consultations.”

Along with this, the authorities indicated that it is estimated that the total investment of the new hospital will exceed $323 billion.

Regarding the selection process, Pozo commented that “a technical evaluation commission was formed, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Health, with representatives of the Health Service and the Ministry of Health.”

“The Ministry of Social Development also intervened, those who, after an exhaustive analysis of the background, which considers all the costs related to the construction as well as those of displacement”, gave the go-ahead to the site where the hospital will be built.

The new hospital in the northern area of ​​Santaigo will be located specifically in Américo Vespucio with Avenida Independenciain the commune of Hechuraba.
