Tragedy in Belo Horizonte: Mother and Daughter Die in Hotel Fall
A 32-year-old woman and her 7-year-old daughter tragically died on monday, january 12th, after falling from the 10th floor of the Hotel Nacional Inn in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, with conflicting reports emerging regarding the presence of the woman’s husband.
Investigation Underway Following Fatal Fall
The incident occurred on Rua Espírito Santo, at the intersection of Rua Santos Dumont, according to the Minas Gerais Military Fire Department (CBMMG). Emergency services, including the Minas Gerais Military Police, the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), and the Municipal Guard, were dispatched to the scene.
Initial reports from the CBMMG indicated that the victims’ husband was present in the hotel room and had allegedly threatened to jump, though no further fall occurred. “The father was allegedly threatening to jump, but there was no third fall. He has not been located so far,” a CBMMG spokesperson stated. Though,the Minas Gerais military Police has as contradicted this claim,stating that no man was found in the room. This discrepancy is a key focus of the ongoing investigation.
The cause of the fall remains unknown. The civil Police of Minas gerais (PCMG) has requested forensic analysis and dispatched a hearse to the hotel. The PCMG confirmed that the investigation is active and further details will be released upon its conclusion.The investigation centers on determining if the fall was accidental, a suicide, or involved foul play, with the conflicting reports about the husband’s presence being a critical element.
The Hotel Nacional Inn Belo Horizonte released a statement expressing its deep regret over the tragedy and pledging full cooperation with authorities. “The Hotel Nacional Inn Belo Horizonte reinforces that it values the safety of its guests and employees and maintains operational standards,” the statement read. As of Tuesday, January 13th, the husband remains missing and is considered a person of interest in the investigation. The identities of the victims have not been officially released pending notification of family. The incident concluded with the deaths of the mother and daughter, and the ongoing search for the husband to ascertain the events leading to the tragedy.
The newspaper State of Mines attempted to contact the Minas Gerais Military Police for additional facts but did not receive a response.
