The Attorney General’s Office revealed inconsistencies in the Mi Casa Ya program and demanded solutions from the Ministry of Housing.
The Attorney General’s Office has issued a strong warning about the serious inconsistencies detected in the government program Mi Casa Yawhich seeks to provide Social Interest Housing (VIS) subsidies to 50 thousand families during the year 2024.
After conducting an investigation, The control entity has discovered that the Ministry of Housing, City and Territory, through FONVIVIENDAonly has the budget to cover 33 thousand of the planned subsidies. This leaves 17 thousand families in a situation of uncertainty, since there are not enough resources to guarantee relief in the payment of their mortgage installments.

The Second Delegate Attorney General’s Office for the Oversight of Public Function warned that this lack of resources could lead to a massive withdrawal of families interested in subsidiesfearing that they would not be able to meet their loan payments.
Given this critical situation, the Attorney General’s Office has urged the Minister of Housing, Helga María Rivas, to take immediate measures. to ensure compliance with the commitments made to beneficiary families. In addition, it has requested that strategies be established to prevent families from renouncing their subsidies and that the measures necessary to obtain the missing resources to guarantee full coverage of the subsidies planned for 2024 be reconsidered.
