The Minister stated the following in his statement:
Our country is Earthquake country. Istanbul is one of these cities. In 1994, our President initiated the concept of social housing. It spread all over Turkey. The transformation of 695 thousand residences in 39 districts in Istanbul has been completed, and 93 thousand residences continue.
We have secured the loss of life and property of our citizens by building 3.3 million houses, which are unique in the world. We have secured 65 percent of the structures. We want no untransformed areas to remain until 2035. On Saturday, we will announce other supports with our Ministry of Treasury and Finance. Our findings indicate that 1.5 million residences are at risk, both from the ground and from the structures. It means 193,649 buildings.
We have determined the reserve area. The details will be announced by our President in the coming days. For example, we talked to the Ministry of National Defense about the north of the military area in Esenler, it will be a reserve area. God forbid, there will be a gathering area in any disaster, you have to present the equipment. This is the duty of the state. We want to complete this process within 5 years. For example, we gave the apartments we finished in Kayaşehir. We built a parking lot and green space in the space we vacated. Our President will also announce the additional financial support. You cannot evaluate Istanbul alone. This is a matter of sovereignty. When you think of Istanbul, you have to think of Marmara together. Where the industry needs to be, we will reveal the spatial plan. We must take the step of strengthening the industry in Istanbul.
