(24News) Defense Analyst Brigadier Retired Haris Nawaz gave details about the process, inquiry and prosecution of former DGISI General (R) Retired Faiz Hameed through court martial.

While talking to 24 News, Brigadier Retired Haris Nawaz said that regarding the Army Act action against former DGISI General Faiz Hameed and his court martial that is presented in military courts or the court martial action of any soldier. The maximum punishment is 14 years while the minimum punishment is one year. Charges have been made and if more things come out during the inquiry, charges will also be made.

He said that General Faiz was holding important positions, so he was quite secretive, so he can’t say anything about political interference, but this action was taken after the decision of the Supreme Court, in which the top An inquiry was ordered against him in the city case.

On the question of his interference in May 9, Brigadier Retired Haris Nawaz said that the army does not compromise in its discipline and the process of accountability will be based on justice. For example, on May 9, an officer in Lahore showed his weakness and was sentenced to death. There is a strict accountability process in the army, while regarding the inquiry of political charges against General (R) Faiz Hameed, he said the same thing that since there is a special system of discipline and self-accountability in the institution, it will definitely happen, but Faiz Hameed will be regularly punished. An opportunity will be given which will be between them as an offense, a formal process of prosecution and then a decision will be made.

Regarding Top City owner’s FIR, video and allegations of torture, Brigadier (retd) Harith Nawaz said that these will be used as evidence against him and may be part of the first inquiry, discussing the time frame. While doing so, he further said that there are day-to-day trials in military courts and if speedy proceedings are held, they will be decided in about 6 months to a year. He said that General (R) Faiz Hameed in any civilian court. Can’t challenge that.
