From sandstorms to flocks of birds, two physicists explain to us the mechanisms of these phenomena which last only a few moments.

It’s a show that takes us to all continents and all material environments, to discover the physics of the ephemeral.

All around us, we can observe many phenomena that last only a few moments. Some are fascinating in their beauty, such as flocks of birds, waves on the sea, or the appearance of water in deserts.

Others are very dangerous like tsunamis, hurricanes, or forest fires.

But are there laws common to all these different phenomena? How to study events, which are very brief and sometimes occur only very rarely?

We find out thanks to two physicists, Etienne Guyon et Frederic Moisy who just published The impermanence of the world ; the physics of the ephemeral, published by Flammarion.
