Cholesterol, triglycerides, hypertension, diabetes, family predisposition, age, sex. These are the best-known cardiovascular risk factors, i.e. how much it can increase the probability that during our lives we may experience “events” that affect the heart and circulation, such as heart attacks or strokes. But beyond general knowledge, how much do we really know about these risk factors and what do we do to reduce them? We asked the readers of Corriere.it/salute with a questionnaire whose results will be discussed in a meeting in Sala Buzzati in Corriere della Sera on 20 September at 5.30 pm and streamed on corriere.it and on Corriere’s Facebook page Salute on September 22nd at 3.00 pm. It will be an opportunity to clarify these issues with Giuseppe Derosa, (Head of the Diabetology and Metabolic Diseases Center of the University of Pavia and of the Regional Center for Dyslipidemia and Atherosclerosis at the Irccs Policlinico San Matteo Foundation in Pavia), Massimo Grimaldi (Director of ‘UOC of Cardiology and UTIC of the Miulli Hospital of Acquaviva delle Fonti and President elected Anmco), and Pasquale Perrone Filardi, President of the Italian Society of Cardiology, Professor of diseases of the cardiovascular system, University of Naples Federico II.
