New Delhi: Food delivery platform Zomato has increased its customer fees by 25 percent. Zomato has increased its platform fees from Rs 4 to Rs 5 per order in select markets. This change is applicable to major cities like Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Lucknow. Zomato started charging platform fees in August 2023. Initially it was Rs 2 per order. Then in October, the company increased the fee to Rs 3 in most of its major markets.
According to the company’s app, it has also stopped its inter-city food delivery service ‘Intercity Legends’. When asked about this, Zomato spokesperson said, ‘This is a business move. We take these from time to time on the basis of various factors.
According to sources associated with the company, the increase in platform fees will be applicable in major cities like Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR), Bengaluru, Mumbai, Lucknow and Hyderabad. Zomato started charging platform fee per order from August last year. At that time it was Rs 2 per order. It has now been gradually increased to Rs 5 per order. Its main rival Swiggy already charges Rs 5 per order.
