HPE and Juniper Networks Accelerate AI Infrastructure with New Edge and Data Center Solutions

HPE and Juniper Networks are jointly deploying advanced networking hardware and expanded partnerships to address the growing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, particularly at the edge and within data centers. Expanding the AI Edge with the MX301 Router
The companies are targeting the AI data center edge with the immediate availability of the MX301, a new 1U, 1.6Tbps multiservice edge router. This router is designed to bring AI inferencing closer to the point of data generation, supporting applications in metro networks, mobile backhaul, and enterprise routing.
The MX301 boasts high-density support for a range of interfaces, including 16 x 1/10/25/50GbE, 10 x 100Gb, and 4 x 400Gb connections. According to a company release, “the MX301 is essentially the on-ramp to provide high speed, secure connections from distributed inference cluster users, devices and agents from the edge all the way to the AI data center.” The emphasis is on delivering not only high performance but also robust security and advanced logical capabilities.
QFX5250 Switch: Powering AI Consumption in the Data Center
Looking ahead to the first quarter of 2026, HPE and Juniper are preparing to launch the QFX5250 switch. This fully liquid-cooled switch is specifically engineered to connect Nvidia Rubin and/or AMD MI400 GPUs for AI processing within the data center.
built on Broadcom Tomahawk 6 silicon, the QFX5250 supports up to 102.4Tbps of Ethernet bandwidth. One analyst noted that “The QFX5250 combines HPE liquid cooling technology with Juniper networking software (Junos) and integrated AIops intelligence to deliver a high-performance, power-efficient and simplified operations for next-generation AI inference.” The liquid cooling is a critical component, addressing the thermal challenges associated with high-density GPU deployments.
Strategic Partnerships with Nvidia and AMD
Central to this AI networking strategy are strengthened partnerships with both nvidia and AMD. The companies announced an expanded relationship with Nvidia, integrating HPE Juniper edge onramp and long-haul data center interconnect (DCI) support into the Nvidia AI computing by HPE portfolio.
