“One of our most important problems is the popularization of sports,” said Minister Hrachya Rostamyan during a meeting with the heads of federations invited to the RA Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs on September 26.

“First, I would like to hear specific plans and proposals for popularizing and popularizing the sports you lead,” said the minister, urging the audience to be bold and relaxed, stating that the goal of both the ministry and the federations should be the popularization of sports, because that is where they come from. growing future title-winning athletes.

“Let’s radically change our approach to sports, think more about popularizing sports and not winning medals at any cost,” said H. Rostomyan and noted that he is well aware of the prevailing situation, being regularly in gyms in Yerevan and regions. “I know the conditions under which our athletes train. There are many problems, but all of them are solvable. A systematic and compassionate approach is necessary,” he said.

The participants informed that, in addition to compassion, financial resources are also needed. They considered today’s state funding to be insufficient. This was reported by the RA Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs.

Making the attendees happy, Minister H. Rostomyan informed that the amount of funding of the 15 federations present at the meeting and financed from the state budget will increase by 30-50 percent. “The so-called big sports federations will be able to solve their problems on their own, our goal is to support the smaller ones,” the minister stressed and warned that he will personally monitor so that the state money is spent in a strictly targeted manner.

It should be noted that the heads of Armenia‘s gymnastics, sambo, athletics, skiing, cycling, table tennis, archery, swimming, canoeing, diving, traditional wushu, figure skating, synchronized swimming, field hockey and badminton federations were invited to the meeting.
