Huawei Mate 90 Pro Max Supports Three Simultaneous SIMs

Huawei unveiled its Mate 90 smartphone series in China on October 1, 2026, featuring self-developed Kirin chips built with logic folding technology. The top-tier Mate 90 Pro Max model introduces rare multi-network connectivity supporting up to three simultaneous SIM connections under specific carrier conditions.

Huawei Debuts Mate 90 Series with Kirin Tau Chips

Chinese technology company Huawei launched its Mate 90 smartphone lineup on October 1, 2026, coinciding with the first day of China’s National Day holidays. The release includes the base Mate 90, the Mate 90 Pro, the Mate 90 RS, and the flagship Mate 90 Pro Max, alongside several exclusive versions. Analysts cited by the Global Times reporting on the online product release pointed to continued domestic development.

All models in the series operate on chips built around the proprietary Tau Scaling Law, introduced by the company in May. This architecture focuses on shortening signal transmission routes and reducing latency rather than physically shrinking transistors. The base Mate 90 features the Kirin 9030, the Mate 90 Pro carries the Kirin 9035, and the Mate 90 Pro Max incorporates the Kirin 9050 Pro.

Described in a company press release as upgrading from a single-story apartment to a duplex, the Kirin 9050 Pro integrates logic folding technology by stacking logic units in layers within a single chip. Vertical interconnects function as internal elevators to shorten pathways and improve performance. The processor achieves a transistor density of 238 million transistors per square millimeter, marking a 28-percent increase compared with the Kirin 9030 Pro.

Mate 90 Pro Max Offers Triple SIM and Detailed Specs

The Mate 90 Pro Max has drawn attention for a connectivity option allowing users to manage up to three cellular networks simultaneously. Initial reports on the X platform, verified through the manufacturer’s official technical specifications page, confirm the device accommodates two physical SIM cards alongside two eSIM modules. Users can maintain three active connections concurrently using both physical slots and a single eSIM profile.

This capability comes with a specific operational condition. Huawei notes that at least two of the three active connections must originate from the same Chinese mobile operator. Beyond connectivity, the device measures 164.5 x 78.7 x 8.15 mm and weighs 234 grams in standard color options including Jade Green, Rose Gold, Crystal White, and Obsidian Black.

Specification Feature Mate 90 Pro Max Details

Liu Wei, director of the human-machine interaction and cognitive engineering laboratory at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, noted that the Kirin 9050 Pro reduces the performance gap with advanced 2-nanometer platforms in multi-core concurrency and neural processing unit computing power for on-device large language models. The Mate 90 series introduces a multi-device mutual-assistance communication sharing feature capable of aggregating network capabilities across up to four nearby Huawei Mate devices when individual signals are limited.

Pricing for the series begins at 5,999 yuan for entry configurations, while the high-end Mate 90 Pro Max reaches 9,499 yuan. Devices running HarmonyOS have surpassed 90 million units, marking growth from earlier ecosystem figures.
