Undefeated for ten years over the distance, American Grant Holloway was crowned world champion in the 60 meter hurdles. The world record holder in the discipline crossed the line in 7 sec 29 (championship record), ahead of the Italian Lorenzo Simonello (7 sec 43, Italian record) and the Frenchman Just Kwaou-Mathey (7 sec 47). Kwaou-Mathey brings the French team its first medal at these indoor world championships.
Sad news for French pole vaulter Margot Chevrier who injured her leg when she fell next to the mat. She was rushed to a hospital on a stretcher. French number one in the pole vault this winter, Margot Chevrier was aiming for the minimums for the Olympic Games (4.73 m). She jumped 4.66 meters this winter.
