With a good performance, the Huila karate delegation raised the name of the department by obtaining outstanding medals in the recently concluded 1st National Interleague and Interclub Karate Championship, held in the city of Bogotá.

During February 28 to March 3, 2024, The Sports Palace of Bogotá was the setting for this important sporting event, which included the participation of 734 athletes representing 24 Leagues affiliated with the Colombian Karate Federation (FCK).

The Huila delegation, made up of thirteen athletes, two coaches, a delegate and a judge with a national license, made an outstanding presentation, obtaining a total of three medals on the podium.

The young talent David Mauricio Guachetá Salinas won the gold medal in the Kata Under-12 Men’s Intermediate category, demonstrating their skill and ability in the discipline.

For its part, Ana María Sterling Ruiz shone with her own light by winning the silver medal in the Kata U-12 Female Beginners category, exhibiting exceptional performance in each of their presentations.

And no less important, Thiago Rojas Motta won the bronze medal in the Kata 8-9 years Male Beginner category, thus consolidating his talent and dedication in the competition.

In addition to these performances, other members of the Huilense team also obtained outstanding positions in the championship. Alessandro Arroyo Colpas and Sergio David Narváez Gutiérrez reached fifth place in their respective categories, while Luis Ricardo Riveros Rivera, Ana María Castro Montiel, Marly Alejandra Sterling Ruiz, Pablo Nagles Gutiérrez, Jorge Esteban Sterling Ruiz and Juan David Auza Trujillo were placed in the TOP 10, reaching the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds in their respective competitions.

The president of the Huila Karate League, Veterinarian Daniel Enrique Gasca Castillo, highlighted the hard work carried out in the pre-childhood categories, highlighting the continuity in the preparation of athletes under 12 years of age and their outstanding performance in high-level championships. .

“I take advantage of this space to thank the parents of the athletes who competed in this event and in general the families that make up the Huila Karate League since, without their support, accompaniment and effort, participation would not have been possible. in this National Karate Championship,” said Daniel Gasca.
