How do you approach a journalist who is famous for his interviewing skills? In Paris, in his apartment on the 7th floor, not far from the Eiffel Tower, I meet 101-year-old Georg Stefan Troller, who watches me attentively with a keen eye. With him is his faithful companion, the tomcat Foxy. Just as curious as “son maître” he crawls into my backpack and my photo bag and tries to knock over my recording device. Georg Stefan Troller doesn’t want me to just write down his statements. He wants our conversation to be recorded and he quoted verbatim, “because otherwise the result is always different than what you wanted to say.” And he insists on going through his interview again before it is printed.
