Hyundai Engineering announced on the 24th that it opened ‘Goodwill Store Milal Baekseok Branch’ on the 23rd with the Milal Welfare Foundation.

The opening ceremony was attended by officials including Hyundai Engineering CEO Hong Hyun-seong, Gyeonggi Provincial Council members Lee Taek-soo and Kwak Mi-sook, Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled Seoul Regional Headquarters Jang Dong-soo, and Milal Welfare Foundation Chairman Hong Jeong-gil. In addition, the Bridge On Ensemble, an art troupe for people with developmental disabilities operated by the Milal Welfare Foundation, performed at the opening performance.

After the opening ceremony, CEO Hong Hyun-seong and executives and employees participated in product sorting activities and local promotional volunteer activities to help with the shortage of labor.

Hyundai Engineering continues to support the establishment of Goodwill Stores to create jobs for the disabled. The third Milal Baekseok branch was established following the Milal Ilsan branch in 2020 and the Milal Tanhyeon branch in 2022.

Goodwill Store Milal Baekseok Branch was established through a matching grant method in which the company adds the same donation amount to the fund raised through the voluntary participation of Hyundai Engineering executives and employees, in addition to donations from Hyundai Motor Group.

Goodwill Store is a vocational rehabilitation facility that helps disabled workers directly participate in all processes, including collecting donations, sorting, processing, packaging, and selling, to create jobs for the disabled and establish a foundation for independence.

The currently operating Milal Ilsan branch employs a total of 23 people, including 14 people with developmental disabilities, and the Milaltanhyeon branch employs a total of 9 people, including 5 people with developmental disabilities. The newly opened Milal Baekseok branch employs a total of 11 people, including 7 people with developmental disabilities. work

Since 2017, Hyundai Engineering has been conducting a ‘Goods Donation Campaign’ in which employees collect goods and deliver them to Goodwill Stores with the participation of executives and employees, donating trucks for collecting goods, and executives and employees personally visit Goodwill Store stores and volunteer to sort donated goods. We are carrying out continuous social contribution activities in cooperation with the Milal Welfare Foundation.

An official from Hyundai Engineering said, “We expect that the newly opened Goodwill Store Milal Baekseok branch will create synergy with existing stores and enable more stable operation,” and added, “We will continue to cooperate with Goodwill Store to support the expansion of stores to other regions and provide support for people with disabilities.” “We will pursue various social contribution activities to create jobs and improve quality of life,” he said.
