Vardan Ghukasyan made a statement on live TV, urging the opposition factions of the Council of Elders, “Mother Armenia” and “National Progress”, not to participate in the session of the Council of Elders.
“I am receiving alerts that the investigation committee has started the persecution of the councilors of the “Public Voice” faction. Some of them have already been called to the CC. Nikol Pashinyan gave the state terror an “instigation” to do the possible and the impossible so that the opposition parties could not reach the point where there would be new elections of the municipal council of elders. This person intends to implement the constitution named after Aliyev,” said Vardan Ghukasyan.
Addressing the opposition forces, Ghukasyan said that the moment has come to put aside personal “disgust” and “hate” and act against the “Civil Agreement” faction.
“Today, my council of elders is in danger. Dear oppositionists, spread the information that “Public Voice” councilors are subjected to state terror in order to secure a quorum tomorrow. I have entered into a serious struggle and I want to clear the field from CP. I am ready to cooperate even with the devil, only that CP must be cleared from the Yerevan Municipality, and later from the government building. I suggest to put aside the hatred, unite around one idea with united efforts and clean them up. After three sittings, the municipality is liquidated, and we are going to new elections,” said Vardan Ghukasyan.
