Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer said that he held a meeting with the team’s players after the bitter defeats they suffered against Leverkusen in the league and Lazio in the Champions League.
Heiner explained in statements to the newspaper “Munchner Merkur TZ”: “I spoke with the players after the match, and it is clear that our goal is to get back on the right track in order to succeed as quickly as possible. We will not give up.”
Hainer did not talk about the future of coach Thomas Tuchel, but he said that he assigned the coach a clear mission.
Hainer said: “Of course we are suffering from fluctuations in results at the present time. We now need a spark to change the conditions on the field. We are all working together on that and I am convinced that we can do it.”
Hainer refused to discuss the possibility of ending the current season without winning the league championship for the first time since the 2011/2012 season, and Bayern also exited the German Cup.
He stressed: “We do not have major fears about that. We still have every chance in the Champions League, even after losing to Lazio 0-1. Everything is possible.”
He concluded: “We will make a radical change in the return match after 3 weeks, and we will qualify for the quarter-finals of the continental championship.”
