In a conversation with 24News, MP Gagik Melkonyan of the “Civil Contract” faction of the National Assembly stated this, referring to the dismissal of his son, Arman Melkonyan, from the position of the head of the “Yerevan-Kentron” penitentiary.
To the question whether he will be appointed to a new position, the deputy answered: “He is a young guy with the rank of colonel, he will serve again somewhere else.”
To the observation that he was just appointed to that position, before that he was the head of the “Artik” penitentiary institution, what is the reason for such a quick change of position, Gagik Melkonyan replied that he cannot say.
Reference was also made to the information that it is possible that Arman Melkonyan was dismissed from his position in connection with the former Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan, because the latter visited his mother for a short time on the way to the NA Investigative Committee. At that time, the head of the penitentiary service, Sergey Atomyan, was dismissed, and Arman Melkonyan was severely reprimanded.
“When Davit Tonoyan moved to the National Assembly, at that time my son was on vacation, he was out of Armenia. If a person is on vacation, he is not in office, any order from him would be illegal.”
