“My husband knew that he was among those returning to Armenia, but he was informed just three hours before the exchange that he was staying in Azerbaijan,” Linda, the wife of Lebanese-Armenian Vigen Euljekjian, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Azerbaijan, told “Hraparak”.

When he learned that there would be a change at the last moment, his health condition deteriorated sharply.

“I am very afraid and worried about him, I want to get information about him, to hear his voice. We have started collecting signatures on the Internet, we hope that as many people as possible will join, I don’t know how much it will help, I don’t know where to go, who to ask, who can help us, I don’t know anything else,” said Linda Euljekjian.

Linda noted that representatives of the Red Cross will have the opportunity to see Vigen only next week, and they last saw him two days before the exchange of prisoners.

The employees of the “Red Cross” tried to find out why the change was made at the last moment, three hours before the exchange, but the Azerbaijani side did not consider it necessary to give any explanation.

“I want to understand who ordered such a change, my husband is innocent, he is a civilian. He is paying the price of his life for something he didn’t do, why did they decide to replace my husband, why? Who gave that instruction in Azerbaijan or did that instruction come only from Azerbaijan? Whose benefit is it?” said Linda.

Let’s remind that Vigen Euljekjian was captured immediately after the end of the war, in Shushi, when he went to collect his personal belongings.
