In this case, Sunita had an affair with a 32-year-old man two years ago. The relationship eventually turned into love. Due to the absence of a husband, Sunita was living unmarried with her acquaintance. During the day, Sunita usually goes to farm work. At that time the woman’s daughter used to live alone in the house. On the day of the incident, Sunita came home after going to work in the garden.
Sunita’s daughter’s roommate was trying to sexually assault her when she entered the house. Sunita tried to stop it. His attempt was unsuccessful. Thus, to prevent sexual violence, he took a knife from the kitchen of the house and cut off the private part of the person who was living with him. This caused the man to shout for help. Neighbors informed the police. The police rushed to rescue the man and admitted him to the hospital.
The Lakhimpur police officer investigating the case said, “The concerned person is in critical condition. A case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act for sexual assault,” he said. In her statement to the police, Kathan said, “When he tried to sexually assault my daughter, I tried to stop him. He also attacked me. So I had no choice but to take a knife from the kitchen and cut the penis. No regrets,” he said.
