When she arrived for the CAP hairdressing exam, she was first welcomed like a… member of the jury. Christiane Parmentier bursts out laughing at the mention of this episode, she who graduated at 67 before taking up her first job as a hairdresser in a salon in Sarrebourg (Moselle). “She is so motivated that she even works days that exceed her hours,” laughs her boss, Audrey Barbi.

A former employee on the shelves of a Simply supermarket in Sarrebourg as a bakery manager, this widow, now 68 years old, has, throughout her career, regretted not having this professional experience. It was only when she retired, to escape boredom and sadness after the loss of her husband, that she decided to enroll in training, crossing paths with teenage girls on the benches of the ‘school.

“I chose German, because I know the dialect”

Since then, she has made up for lost time, adding to her tasks in the Moselle salon missions in an establishment for the elderly, which she does hair regularly. Better late than never !

“In my time, when you started working somewhere, you continued, there was no bridge or possibility of progressing elsewhere through retraining. And then, when you have a house on your back and a daughter who is studying, you already think about not taking risks,” she explains.

During her training, she feared having to learn English. “We needed a living language, phew! I chose German, because I know the dialect, which allowed me to get a good grade. » Finally passed with an average of 13.6 out of 20, Christiane Parmentier landed an internship, then her job in Sarrebourg. The future ? “I hope to continue until I’m 75, if my health allows me!” »
