Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh minister Swami Prasad Maurya, who separated from the Samajwadi Party and held the flag of Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party, on Sunday announced to contest elections from Kushinagar Lok Sabha seat. Announcing this on the social media platform ‘X’, Maurya also said that now it remains to be seen whether the opposition’s ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (INDIA) supports him or not. While announcing the name of the candidate from Deoria seat also, he said that soon candidates will be announced for some other seats also. He has become MLA thrice from Padrauna seat here.

Maurya, in his message written on ‘X’, said that since the formation of Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party on February 22, he has been trying to win and strengthen the ‘India’ alliance. He said, I also had talks with the leaders of both the big parties of Uttar Pradesh included in the ‘India’ alliance and as per their expectations, I also sent a list of five names.

Swami Maurya said- I kept waiting
Maurya said, “I kept waiting for the names decided by these two parties to be decided and announced, but till date the announcement has not been made.” He said that after a long wait, the name of Kushinagar Lok Sabha seat has been announced. In view of the public demand, “Taking a pledge of respect, self-respect and development of the people of Kushinagar, I am dedicating myself to the people of Kushinagar as a candidate for the Kushinagar Lok Sabha seat.”

‘Now it remains to be seen that INDIA……’
The former minister said, “Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party candidate from Deoria Lok Sabha seat, S.N. Will be Chauhan. The remaining names will also be announced soon.” He said, “Now it remains to be seen whether the parties included in the ‘India’ alliance consider me a part of the ‘India’ alliance or Bhim Army chief, Chandrashekhar Azad and Pallavi of Apna Dal (Kamerawadi). Like Patel, they give a certificate of not being part of the alliance.”

There are 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and under the ‘India’ alliance, Samajwadi Party is contesting on 62 seats, Congress on 17 and Trinamool Congress on one seat. Maurya’s Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party, Apna Dal (Kameravadi) and Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad had asked for some seats under the ‘India’ alliance but their demands were not fulfilled.

Maurya became MLA from Padrauna seat thrice
Maurya had left BJP and joined SP before the 2022 assembly elections. He had contested the elections from Fazilnagar assembly seat but had to face defeat. Later SP made him a member of the Legislative Council. However, there was opposition within the party regarding his comments related to Sanatan Dharma, after which he broke ties with SP and took up the flag of Rashtriya Shoshit Samaj Party.
