On July 24, he will be 95 years old. He says that he does not think about retirement. There are artists like Titian or Picasso whose final works are among the best of his career. Is that the case with him? “I do not know. I do not judge my own work, “says Alex Katz in an interview with ABC via email. The Thyssen Museum dedicates to him, from June 11 to September 11, its first retrospective in Spainin which the North American painter (New York, 1927) has participated very actively together with William Solana, artistic director of the art gallery and curator of the exhibition, and, before his death, with Tomás Llorens, co-curator of the same. It brings together 35 large-format oil paintings and some studies, covering six decades of work, from 1959 to 2018.
