INTERVIEW – The British actor returns to his role in a six-episode miniseries broadcast on Disney+, almost twenty years later Revenge of the Sith. Casual interview with a “Star Wars” lover.
He has the frankness and distinction of actors far above the lot. British actor Ewan McGregor, 51, has agreed to reprise the role of Luke Skywalker’s mentor, for a highly anticipated six-episode miniseries, soberly titled Obi-Wan, broadcast on Disney+ since May 27. Dark waistcoat and black T-shirt, short hair and little trimmed goatee, Ewan McGregor appears relaxed, rather talkative, to evoke an emblematic character of pop culture, whom he finds after twenty years spent far, very far from the galaxy Star Wars.
LE FIGARO. – Did you ever think of resuming the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi?
Ewan McGREGOR. – In 2005, when I finished the Star Wars prelogy, I honestly thought I was done with the character. I was happy to belong to the family Star Wars. But I never imagined one day playing Obi-Wan Kenobi again. I knew George Lucas was planning to tell nine stories. I saw the universe Star Wars expand from year to year…
