Released this Wednesday by the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR) at the end of his trial for suspicion of “illegal taking of interests”, the Minister of Justice, Éric Dupond-Moretti, expressed his relief on the plateau of France 2. “I want to turn the page and resume the ordinary course of my work,” he declared.
Suspected for three years of having settled scores with magistrates with whom he had had trouble when he was a lawyer, Éric Dupond Moretti was finally cleared by this court responsible for judging members (and ex-members) of the government.
The CJR considered that there had indeed been an illegal taking of interests but did not accept the intentional nature of the alleged facts. “At no time” did the minister “express (…) animosity, contempt or a desire for revenge” towards these four magistrates, the Court found.

Received by Emmanuel Macron this Wednesday afternoon after the CJR’s decision, the minister indicated that he “stayed for a long time” with the President of the Republic, without however providing information on the content of their exchange. “I thanked him for being respectful of the presumption of innocence,” he simply said.
