RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Karen Giloyan received representatives of Armenia at the 7th International Sports Games “Children of Asia”.
The tournament will be held from July 27 to August 8 in Vladivostok, Russia, and Armenia will be represented by 21 athletes in 7 sports: sambo, shooting, wrestling, table tennis, beach volleyball, taekwondo and artistic gymnastics.
Karen Giloyan, the deputy minister of KGSMS, who will personally attend the tournament in Vladivostok, wished success to the young athletes. “It is quite a good tournament for its scale, with the participation of 37 countries. I wish you all good luck. I will admire all of you from the stadium and I will wait for the medals.”
Armenia will be represented in the Sambo sport in all weight classes by 5 young athletes. One of the members of the sambo team will also compete in wrestling. In shooting sports, our country will represent 4 athletes in pistol and rifle competitions. We will have 4 representatives in the sport of table tennis, 2 in the sport of beach volleyball, two athletes in the sport of taekwondo, and 2 athletes will be represented in artistic gymnastics.
The head of the Armenian delegation is Artur Sedrakyan, head of the Department of Higher Achievements of the Ministry of Education and Culture. According to him, the tournament will give great experience to young athletes. “We have medal hopes and good young people. I want all of us to go to the tournament with a high and fighting spirit. I am sure that the participants will do everything to perform at their best and sing the RA national anthem.”
At the opening ceremony of the 7th “Children of Asia” international sports games, the bronze medalist of the European Sambo Youth Championship, Robert Simonyan, will be the flag bearer of Armenia. The grand opening ceremony is scheduled for July 28.
According to Artash Simonyan, coach of the sambo team, he expects only medal competitions from all athletes. “All the boys included in our team are medal-winning athletes. We expect only victory. We will participate in the European Championship in Serbia in September, so this tournament will be a good experience for us before the European Championship.”
The representatives of other sports have also stated that they have passed the preparatory phase well and expect high results.
Sportswear was also provided to the young sportsmen by KGSMN.
Today, July 26, representatives of Armenia left for the 7th International Sports Games “Children of Asia”.
It should be noted that Armenia has previously also participated in the “Children of Asia” sports games. In the tournament held in Yakutsk in 2016, the representative of Armenia, shooter Hayk Babayan became a gold medalist.
