“I won’t give him the pleasure of resigning. He has a phobia of Barça”

An external lawyer, with his team of professionals and together with the area of complianceis conducting an investigation that must be independent, rigorous and excellent, as FC Barcelona and its partners deserve”, expressed the president. He also expressed the club’s intention to hold a press conference as soon as possible to explain all the information the club has. “We are eager to give explanations about all the information we have”, expressed the Barcelona president in the institutional statement.

“We’re looking into it”

The case was revealed by Cadena SER a few days ago and, since the first reaction of the entity, the club has asked the media to take responsibility. “We firmly believe that for a democratic society to exist there must be free and independent journalism. We deeply regret the leakage of documents and data from a case that is currently under investigation at the Prosecutor’s Office and that should have the utmost custody , and even more so when in no case have the Public Prosecutor’s Office or the police forces notified the club that it is part of any investigation. Anyone who tarnishes the name of Barça or tries to do so will have a strong response,” remarked Laporta.

Laporta also wanted to dispel the doubts that link the Negreira case with his first term as Barça president. “In my first term, these player reporting services were billed and had documentary and video support. That’s how it was done during my years as president. Some money was paid that had documentary support and of video.
