Ian Bell is the coach of Sri Lanka

Ian Bell has become the batting coach of the Sri Lankan cricket team. Cricket Sri Lanka (SLC) announced his appointment as coach on Tuesday. The Lankans appointed Bell ahead of the upcoming Test series against England.

Sri Lanka Cricket Chief Executive Ashley De Silva said of his appointment, ‘We have brought in Ian Bell so that our boys can get the experience and knowledge of the England field from him. Bale has a lot of experience playing in England. We believe his cooperation will serve us well as a team on this tour.’

Three Tests will be held at Old Trafford, Lord’s and Oval from August 21.

Bale played for England from 2004 to 2015. One of England’s best batsmen scored 7,727 runs at an average of 42.69 in 118 Tests. He scored 22 centuries.

This time he is going to serve as a coach in Sri Lanka’s Test series against his own team. He will join the Sri Lankan team on August 16. Will serve till September 6.

Bale has been working as a coach since retiring in 2020. Before that, he was the batting coach of England Under-19 and Lions. Assistant coach was Hobart Hurricanes, batting consultant was Derbyshire. Besides, he was the assistant coach of the New Zealand team until the 2023 ODI World Cup. He was recently the assistant coach of the Big Bash League side Melbourne Renegades. And coached the Birmingham Phoenix in the Men’s Hundred League.
