Although a few months ago we learned that the documentary was being prepared Patria & Baseball (1864-2024), a film project that brings together several national sports glories, its director Ian Padrón has asked for financial help on his social profiles to be able to conclude this proposal, produced independently and for which he has already spent “all his savings.”

While leaving a preview of some of the characters interviewed, the renowned director asked for the help of Cuban baseball and sports lovers to continue making this proposal: “We want to tell in a film, the first 160 years of Cuban baseball,” he wrote.

To which he added: «We have spent our savings on producing it completely independently. Make your donation and your name will be recognized in the final credits. We invite you to be part of our team and make this film a reality.

The screenwriter of various documentaries and video clip director also made it clear that due to lack of budget the project has not been able to continue, which includes, according to the previews he has shared with us, the voice of glories such as Orlando “El Duque” Hernández, Agustín Marquetti, Rolando Arrojo, Rey Vicente Anglanda, Lázaro Vargas, Lourdes Gurriel, along with younger figures such as pitcher Aroldis Chapman, outfielder Yasmany Tomás and the Gurriel clan (Yunieski, Yulieski and Lourdes Jr.).

Padrón, who resides in the United States, describes that “in the last two years we have filmed these tremendous testimonies of several Cuban baseball stars,” in a project that has been proposed with his own effort.

In this documentary Padrón addressed the relationship between baseball and politics in Cuba, and how the Cuba team in the last World Classic was created according to the political ideas of the Cuban Government.
