The strike is called by the unions CCOO y UGTas well as by USEafter Iberia lost the ‘handling’ service at several of the main Spanish airports in the tender failed by the airport manager Aena in September, and the negotiations to carry out ‘autohandling’ at them ended without an agreement.

However, the UGT union has indicated that in this new meeting of the company with the Intercenter Committee the company has only put on the table its absolute refusal to carry out ‘autohandling’‘ (provision of the service to itself by the company), hiding behind a competitive differential.
In the opinion of UGT, with this the company disguises “its intention to subrogate and leave without alternatives all the staff at the affected airports, feeding more and more the theory that the results of the Aena tenders have not been the result of coincidence and are the beginning of a hatched plan to put an end to Iberia’s business.
He has indicated that, despite this, together with CCOO, he has sent a formal letter to the company to resume conversations and avoid conflict.
The USO union has also said that Iberia has not made the slightest effort to reach an agreement at this afternoon’s meeting and pointed out that the company has limited itself to explaining that it keeps the oldest and most expensive workers if it does partial subrogation, while insisting that ‘autohandling’ is not viable. .
Iberia, for its part, has indicated that it keeps its hand extended and is open to dialogue before, during and after the strike.
The group has also reported that it continues working to relocate travelers affected by the strike for whom it has not yet given a solution according to the existing possibilities, since the dates of the strikes, just after Christmas, are complex, due to the high factor of flight occupancy.
