A revitalized winter wonderland awaits in Linz, austria, as the city’s ice oases open for the season with extensive renovations, state-of-the-art lighting, and a host of activities. Over 6,500 ice skating enthusiasts celebrated the opening weekend, signaling a strong start to the winter program.
The LINZ AG winter program encompasses three distinct locations – the Parkbad fitness oasis, the Schörgenhub adventure oasis, and the Ebelsberg sauna oasis – offering a diverse range of experiences for visitors of all ages. The program aims to provide a complete winter experience, extending beyond conventional ice skating.
A New Standard for Ice Quality and Ambiance
Significant upgrades have been made to the outdoor ice rink at the Parkbad,ensuring a superior skating experience. Following the conclusion of the swimming season, the entire ice surface underwent a complete overhaul. Crews removed old concrete, replaced crucial cooling pipes, and rebuilt the surface to guarantee safe, high-quality ice for years to come.
The moast striking addition is the new RGB LED lighting system, comprised of 16 powerful spotlights. According to a company release, the system is “smartly controlled,” providing both enhanced safety during cornering and captivating visual displays across the entire rink. The dynamic lighting creates a vibrant atmosphere, transforming the rink into a spectacle of color and light.
Comfort and Convenience for Skaters
The Parkbad’s ice skate rental service has also been significantly improved, prioritizing skater comfort. New ventilation systems and six fully automatic drying devices have been installed, capable of simultaneously drying and disinfecting 100 pairs of skates. This ensures that every skater begins their experience with dry, hygienic ice skates.
The rental service boasts a comprehensive selection of 1,000 pairs of skates, ranging in sizes from 24 to 46, available for convenient rental at the cash desk and collection from the cloakroom.

The LINZ AG winter program extends beyond ice skating to include the traditional winter sport of curling.Perfectly prepared curling tracks are available at all three oases – Parkbad, Schörgenhub, and Ebelsberg – catering to both casual groups and competitive athletes.
Equipment rental is readily available on-site for those who do not own their own curling sticks, whether for Olympic-style or classic play with pear sticks.
