Bogotá, D.C. – Professionals in Colombia have a new opportunity to advance their education thanks to a partnership between ICETEX and Universidad Europea. Beginning March 4, 2026, the two institutions are offering 25 scholarships for online master’s degree programs in Spain, aiming to broaden access to international higher education and bolster the skills of the Colombian workforce. This initiative focuses on providing financial support to qualified candidates pursuing advanced studies in a variety of fields.
The scholarships are tiered, with 20 offering a 60% discount on tuition and five providing an 80% discount. These ICETEX-Universidad Europea scholarships cover a wide range of programs, including education, engineering, law, social sciences, administration, architecture, renewable energies, logistics, and psychology. The five 80% scholarships are specifically earmarked for Sizeable Data Analytics, Integrated Management Systems, University Education, Interior Design, Human Resources, and Legal and Business Consulting.
Expanding Access to Online Education
The master’s programs, fully delivered online in Spanish, are designed to be accessible to professionals both within Colombia and those residing abroad. Each program lasts 12 months, with studies commencing on April 15, 2026, culminating in an official Spanish degree. Universidad Europea, with campuses in Madrid, Valencia, Canarias, and Andalucía, has a strong track record in online learning for Latin American students, making it a suitable partner for ICETEX in this endeavor.
The application process involves a two-stage selection. ICETEX will handle the initial pre-selection of candidates, even as Universidad Europea will make the final decisions regarding scholarship recipients. Applicants must meet specific criteria to be considered, including being Colombian citizens between the ages of 21 and 65, possessing at least 12 months of professional experience, and maintaining a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.7 out of 5.0. Applicants also cannot be in default on any existing ICETEX loans or funds.
ICETEX Commitment to Internationalization
Álvaro Urquijo Gómez, President of ICETEX, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating, “These calls reflect our commitment to the internationalization of higher education and to expanding opportunities for more Colombian professionals to access high-quality training, in flexible modalities and with significant financial support that positively impacts their life project and the development of the country.”
The application window is open until 5:00 p.m. On March 13, 2026. Interested candidates must submit their applications exclusively through the official ICETEX platform, uploading all required documentation in PDF format. ICETEX strongly advises applicants to avoid intermediaries and to report any instances of fraudulent facilitators to [email protected].
