An event dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Islamic Development Bank Group (IDB) was held in Riyadh.
As Day.Az reports with reference to Trend, the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, was delivered by the Governor of the Riyadh region, Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
In a video message, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the IDB’s work has made a vital contribution to the development of member countries and Muslim communities around the world, particularly during the recent crisis, and will continue to be important in the future.
“We look forward to rapidly increasing the long-term funding available, including mobilizing much more private funding. The United Nations is your partner and ally in this effort, and I wish you all the best for the next 50 years,” he said.
Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristallina Georgieva, noted that the IDB works with professionalism and very deep commitment.
“At the moment of crisis, the organization quickly extended a helping hand. The role of the Islamic Development Bank is only growing,” she said.
Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), said that over the years the EBRD and the Islamic Development Bank have collaborated successfully in a number of countries and regions.
“We look forward to continuing the strong relationship between our institutions and maximizing our collective impact,” she said.
At the event, a gift was presented to the guest of honor.
