To allow people with disabilities who are far from home to have access to voting, electoral authorities announced that in the Mexico City 44 special ballot boxes will be deployed, which were put to the test during a mock voting.

In the facilities of the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM), María Luisa Flores, member of the Local Executive Board of the National Electoral Institute (INE), announced that on June 2 the capital will have 44 electronic ballot boxes, with the capacity for a thousand people to cast their vote in each one.

Eduardo Flores, director of Statistics and Electoral Documentation of the INEspecified that each box will have three machines so that people can carry out civic exercise in an agile manner.

He explained that the vote will be registered through the use of cards that will be given to voters when they present their identification card. elector, which will avoid double voting, since after being used, it will be blocked immediately.

Being electronic, the system will give each voter the items they can choose, leaving out the elections of federal deputies, since by regulations, it is impossible for them to be part of such choice not being in their place of residence.
These devices work without an Internet connection, so they are exempt from a cyber attack. They also count individual votes, in general and for each election category.

The results, in addition to being granted through a ticket, can be consulted for everyone to see on the screens they have.

The electoral authorities were questioned about the possibility of increasing the number of electronic ballot boxes and little by little transitioning to a new form of election; However, they pointed out that it is still difficult, because they require certain operating and treatment conditions, so they will only be destined for special boxes.
