Corruption as a geopolitical factor.- Federico Aznar Fernández-Montesinos and Sebastián Puig Soler

The recent international corruption scandals shed light on a phenomenon whose solution cannot be achieved solely on a national level, while warning about the need to remain vigilant. The globalized world, liquid and dominated by flows, has become small and local life has become intertwined with global structures, processes and events. However, globalization also internationalizes things as undesirable as corruption. This complex and diverse phenomenon weakens the State and can even lead to its collapse. The processes in question take place mainly in regional environments, which is why they require solutions of the same sign, which must also be comprehensive. These go through the strengthening of the States – and with it their institutions – from their own cultural references, as well as greater information and transparency.
