Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette was a writer and theatrical actress, at the center of French culture in the first half of the 20th century. To the point of receiving the recognition of Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor and having the state funeral, which previously had been reserved only for the legendary Sarah Bernhardt. This would be enough to explain the reason for a show on her figure, Cabaret Colette, on stage tonight, Thursday 24th, at 10.30 pm at the Campania Teatro Festival, for the Observatory section. It was conceived by Valentina Curatoli and Arianna D’Angi, protagonists of a performance with music by Fabrizio Elvetico and videos by Loredana Antonelli, produced by Interno5 in collaboration with Casa del Contemporaneo.

Location

To host this creation will be the Landscape Garden of Porta Miano in the Bosco di Capodimonte, where a research path intertwines between literature, body dramaturgy, live visual and live music, which focus on some salient passages of his work. A work that has always launched, even through the years, a message of feminine emancipation with radical characteristics, still able to speak in our time, in its liberating and anarchic key. In fact, the two Neapolitan artists, actress and dancer, imagine they meet Colette as she enters a music hall, slips between the curtains of a stage and exhibits her life, her writing and her changes, splitting into a body of a thousand metamorphoses: man and woman, pure and impure, animal and child, mineral and floral, adolescent, cat, mummy, pythoness, “mental hermaphrodite” and monster.
