Thiruvananthapuram: Congress president K. Sudhakaran criticized the stand of CPI(M) state secretary MV Govindan in the process of disqualifying Rahul Gandhi from the post of MP.
Sudhakaran asked Govindan to clarify if not Rahul, then who is the support of CPIM and said that there is a serious problem with Govindan’s intelligence.
CPI(M) State Secretary MV Govindan has come forward saying that he is not supporting Rahul Gandhi on the issue of his disqualification from the post of MP. He had also said that the party is supporting the anti-democratic moves of the BJP. Sudhakaran’s response to this was.
Govindan had clarified that no matter what kind of measures the BJP takes against any opposition party, the CPI(M) will take the same stand and their stand was no different even in the process of disqualifying the Lakshadweep MP.
Meanwhile, Sudhakaran stated that he would investigate the matter of the Congress MPs abstaining from the protest in Delhi and would respond after the parliamentary party’s report on the matter.
Many Congress MPs avoided arrest during the opposition’s protest march to the Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday in protest against the actions against Rahul. There were reports that the MPs evaded arrest on the grounds that they had booked tickets for their return journey home. Sudhakaran stated that an investigation will be conducted in this regard.
Apart from the Congress, DMK, Aam Aadmi Party and other Left parties participated in the march. CPI(M) MPs AM Arif, AA Rahim, V. Sivadas, CPI MP Santosh Kumar and were arrested during March.
When even the Left MPs were arrested, the Congress MPs abstained, paving the way for the discussion. Congress MPs from Kerala Ramya Haridas, JB Mather, KC Venugopal, K. Sudhakaran, Kotikunil Suresh, K. Muralidharan, Rajmohan Unnithan, Antony Antony and VK Sreekanthan were also arrested.
