At the end of a dramatic final, Iga won this evening (Saturday). Shviontek for the third time the Roland Garros tournament and the fourth Grand Slam title in his career. The first ranked player in the world had a hard time against the Czech Karolina Mukhba until securing the victory 1:2 in sets (2:6, 7:5, 4:6). Shviontek is the first to win twice in a row in the women’s tournament since 2007.

The 22-year-old Shviontek came to the final match in Paris as a clear favorite and started the match with a storm with a break and a 0:3 lead. Mukhaba got on the scoreboard when she held the second serve 1:3. The Czech began to enter the game, but then Shviontek broke the serve a second time and won the first set 2:6.

Shviontek continued the momentum with a similar opening of the set, breaking Mokhaba’s serve and taking the lead 0:3 once again. This time the Czech came back and changed the momentum with a break of her own and a 3:3 tie in the set.

The pressure began to affect Sheviontek and after a double fault by Sheviontek, Mochabe took the lead 4:5. Poland broke on their own and equalized, but Mochaba won twice in a row on the way to 5:7 and a 1:1 tie in sets.

Mukhaba’s momentum continued with a break at the beginning of the third set after taking a 0:2 lead. Shviontek started to get back into the game, winning the game with great difficulty and breaking Mohaba’s serve on the way to a 2:2 tie, but later Poland broke twice and won 4:6.
