IHOP National Pancake Day 2026: Get a Free Short Stack on March 3rd!

by ethan.brook News Editor

IHOP is once again offering a free stack of pancakes next week. On Tuesday, March 3, the breakfast chain will give away a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes at participating restaurants nationwide as part of its annual National Pancake Day celebration. The promotion, now in its 21st year, aims to raise money for charity and encourage diners to give back to their communities.

The tradition began as a way for IHOP to support those in demand and this year is no different. The company is encouraging guests to donate to Feeding America, with every $1 donated helping to provide at least 10 meals to local partner food banks, according to a press release. National Pancake Day isn’t unique to IHOP, though; some restaurants celebrate the holiday on September 26.

The free pancake offer is available from 7 a.m. To 8 p.m. Local time, and no purchase is necessary to participate. Customers can find the nearest participating IHOP location using the chain’s store locator. IHOP operates nearly 1,800 restaurants globally, spanning all 50 U.S. States, two territories, and 13 other countries.

A New Approach to National Pancake Day

This year, IHOP is taking a slightly different approach to its National Pancake Day promotion, aiming to position its restaurants as community gathering places. According to Lenna Yamamichi, IHOP’s vice president for brand creative, the goal is to transform IHOP into “the go-to meetup spot” for friends to enjoy a free Short Stack and spend quality time together. “No planning, no pressure, because pancakes just taste better when the table’s full,” Yamamichi said in a news release.

To that end, IHOP is using “intentionally DIY-looking flyers” in its marketing to appeal to younger adults and encourage spontaneous meetups.

Mr. Fantasy Pancake Meetup in Los Angeles

In Los Angeles, IHOP is partnering with viral personality Mr. Fantasy for a special event. Fans can meet Mr. Fantasy at the IHOP restaurant located at 7006 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood from 2-5 p.m. PST on March 3.

“Bringing people together in ALL shapes and forms is imperative to my mission here on this giant spinning marble we call EARTH,” Mr. Fantasy said in the news release. “I can’t wait to meetup and share some fluffy stacks of deliciousness. Because nothing, I repeat, NOTHING, hits like pancakes with your favorite people. Love You.”

Beyond the Free Pancakes: IHOP’s Charitable Efforts

While the free pancakes are a popular draw, the core purpose of National Pancake Day remains charitable giving. IHOP’s partnership with Feeding America aims to address food insecurity across the country. The organization provides meals through a network of food banks and pantries, serving millions of people in need. Donations made at IHOP restaurants on March 3 will directly support these efforts, providing at least 10 meals for every dollar contributed.

The annual event builds on IHOP’s long-standing commitment to community involvement. For 21 years, National Pancake Day has served as a platform to raise awareness and funds for important causes, demonstrating the company’s dedication to making a positive impact beyond the breakfast table.

IHOP will continue its fundraising efforts with its coffee suppliers from March 30 through December 31, 2026.

The next update from IHOP regarding its National Pancake Day fundraising total is expected in early April, following the conclusion of the March 3 event.
