IKEA calls to “immediately stop” using this product. The Swedish furniture company announced on Wednesday that it was recalling all 40W ÅSKSTORM Dark Gray USB Chargers (product number 50461193) “due to risk of burns and electric shock”.

This product “may become damaged or broken after being wrapped around the charger or folded repeatedly after prolonged use,” explains IKEA. Once damaged, the cable presents a danger to the user.

The Canadian government notes in a press release that globally “the company received 17 reports in which the power cord was possibly damaged or broken during use, and some of these reports included thermal burns and electric shocks suffered by consumers “.

IKEA calls on users to “stop using it immediately” to avoid any risks. These chargers can be returned to any store for a full refund. No proof of purchase (receipt) will be requested,” assures the company, which “apologizes for the inconvenience linked to this recall.”
