Design and Capacity
The National Mosque in Nusantara is designed to accommodate approximately 29,000 worshipers in its initial phase, with a planned total capacity of 60,000. According to IKN Authority Head Basuki Hadimuljono, the mosque’s unique design, resembling a turban, distinguishes it from customary mosque architecture and fosters a connection with other religious areas within the new capital.
The structure itself will span 76,647 square meters across four stories, including two mezzanine levels, and will be situated on a 32,125-square-metre plot. This land allocation also includes a 2,221-square-meter commercial zone and 7,340 square meters dedicated to supporting facilities.
Sustainable Construction and Timelines
The project adheres to Green Building Principles (BGH), integrating sustainable practices throughout its structural work, landscaping, and electronic systems. A senior official stated that Vice President raka closely examined the design quality and construction progress during his visit, expressing thankfulness for the mosque’s innovative concept.
The goal is to have the mosque operational before the start of Ramadan, allowing for tarawih prayers to be held within its walls before the celebration of Eid al-Fitr. Basuki Hadimuljono relayed that the Vice President urged the construction team to accelerate their efforts while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship.
The development of the National Mosque is occurring in tandem with other key infrastructure projects in Nusantara, including the construction of judicial and legislative buildings.
