The elected environmentalists of the Île-de-France Regional Council announced on Friday that they were filing a complaint against Wallerand de Saint-Just (National Rally), after “unacceptable comments” made against an elected official from their group. The facts took place on Friday, during the meeting of the Permanent Commission of the Regional Council. Hella Kribi-Romdhane, elected environmentalist, explained the position of her group, voting against subsidies allocated to anti-abortion associations.

During this debate, Wallerand de Saint-Just, member of the National Rally group, said “It’s Hamas speaking!” », pointing to the elected environmentalist. “Mr. De Saint-Just completely took responsibility for his slip-up by asserting that he could repeat his remarks,” pointed out the environmental group in a press release. The elected environmentalists condemn the “barbaric acts” committed by Hamas on October 7 in Israel and recall that it is a “terrorist organization”.

The RN “caught up with its old habits”

“Why did Wallerand de Saint-Just draw this parallel between terrorism and our colleague? Would he have made this conflation towards another elected official or was his statement targeted at Hella Kribi-Romdhane because of his origins? The National Rally, which is trying to buy itself an image of media respectability, is in reality caught up in its old habits,” further criticize the elected officials, who announce “to file a complaint” against Wallerand de Saint-Just.

Asked about BFMTV Paris-Île-de-France, Hella Kribi Romdhane explains having left the room immediately after the words of the elected RN. “Personally, I left the room for a few minutes because he pointed at me and said ‘It’s Hamas speaking’, in proven racism,” described the elected official. “Moreover, it is completely defamatory, it is an accusation of terrorism against an elected official he had in front of him. »

For his part, Wallerand de Saint-Just admitted to the channel having made these remarks, but refutes any accusation of racism towards the regional elected official. “I did not target Hella Kribi-Romdhane in particular, I targeted the entire far left,” he assures.
