Ille-et-Vilaine: a hundred jobs threatened with the closure of a Fleury Michon site

by time news

The jobs of around a hundred employees at the site of the Fleury Michon delicatessen-catering group in Plélan-le-Grand in Ille-et-Vilaine are threatened. For lack of a buyer, the management announced the closure of the site at the end of May.

“On October 27, we announced a project to sell the industrial site of Charcuteries Cuisinées in Plélan (CCP), located in Brittany, in order to guarantee the sustainability of the activity and jobs”, underlines the management.

Except that after four months of searching for a buyer, the ax fell. “After four months of intensive research and discussions with 8 potential buyers, no company has made a sufficiently precise purchase offer based on an economically and socially viable project”, continues management, announcing that this project closure will be accompanied by a Job Protection Plan (PSE).

A first meeting with the unions on the conditions of this PSE must be held at the beginning of next week for the “103 employees, including two on fixed-term contracts”.

The activity in the factory will continue

According to the unions, the Fleury Michon group, which employs 3,500 people – for a turnover of 705.6 million euros in 2021 – has voluntarily abandoned the Breton site. “Fleury Michon did not fight for Plélan, they made maintenance investments but they did not bring new productions”, according to the CFDT representative. Conversely, according to him, the company has invested several million euros in other factories in Vendée.

As of next week, the group will put in place an Employment Protection Plan (PSE) which should last at least three months. During this period, the activity will continue. And Fleury Michon is committed to providing its employees with the best possible support.

Management is committed to responding to any request for internal mobility. “We will make sure that it is possible for anyone who wants to come to Vendée. It is a strong commitment. On the other hand, if someone wants to leave, we won’t block either. Our absolute priority is the return to work for employees, ”explained on France info, Antoine Belo, director of human resources at Fleury Michon.

In the meantime, the activity in the factory will continue and a crisis cell must be opened at the beginning of next week to take into account the wishes of the employees and the offers available.
