There is a positive response to remittances. In the first 8 days of this month of March, 51 crore 29 lakh (512.9 million) worth of foreign currency remittances have arrived. In local currency (110 taka per dollar) which amounts to taka 5 thousand 642 crores. If the current trend continues, the amount of expatriate income will be 200 crore or two billion dollars at the end of the month.

This information was obtained from Bangladesh Bank’s updated report on Sunday (March 10).

According to the information, on the 8th day of this month, 51 million 29 million dollars came in the banking channel. Out of this, 50 million 24 million dollars came through state-owned banks, 97 million US dollars through a specialized bank, 449 million dollars through private banks and 1760 thousand US dollars through foreign banks.

In the first month of this year, January, remittances came to the country of 2100 million US dollars. And in February comes 216 million 6 million US dollars.

In the last financial year 2022-23, the total remittance received was 2 thousand 161 crore 7 lakh US dollars. In the previous financial year 2021-22, the total remittance came to 2 thousand 103 crore 17 lakh US dollars. In the financial year 2020-21, the remittance came to 2 thousand 477 crore 77 million US dollars, which is the highest amount of remittance.
