In a press release sent out ahead of schedule, a Russian was declared a Nobel laureate

The Swedish Academy of Sciences accidentally sent out an email claiming that the Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded to three scientists “for the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots.”

According to the letter, the laureates include Russian Alexey Ekimov, as well as American of French-Tunisian origin Mungi Bavendi and US representative Louis Bruce.

Official names of the laureates are to be announced later, and, commenting on the letter, academy spokeswoman Eva Nevelius said that a decision had not yet been made on them.
